The reason this was a Texas inspired engagement session is because that’s where Taylor and Duncan are both from. Work is what brought them both to Virginia, and they are excited to start their new life here.

Walking around the Norfolk Pagoda Gardens at sunset was so perfect. We got there close to sunset, and enjoyed the most amazing light.

Seriously – it doesn’t get more romantic than this!

Texas Inspired Engagement Session

How we Met

We were both in the Aggie Band (the marching band) while we were students at Texas A&M, and that’s how we initially became friends. Then our junior year, we each got accepted into the same volunteer organization. Over the course of organization meetings and volunteer projects, we slowly became closer, and I couldn’t believe it had taken me so long to see how wonderful he is!

How I Knew

While we were in the volunteer organization together, I noticed that he was always the first person to sign up for a new project or volunteer opportunity. Not only that but when we were on site for a project, he was one of the hardest workers there. He loves to help people and give back to the community, and that generosity and selflessness are still what I love most about him!

The Proposal

When we knew that we were serious about each other, he made a promise to me – he would not propose until he had graduated college AND had a job. As it worked out, he accepted a job offer while he was still in school, so he proposed the day that he graduated.
The evening he graduated, he took me for a walk around campus to reminisce about all the good times we had had as students there, and suddenly we turned a corner to see a tree filled with lights. While we had been walking, our families decorated the tree branches and the path underneath with over a hundred lights. He walked me into the middle of all the lights and popped the question!

Favorite Things

We love to have “stay at home” dates! A day of cooking yummy food and cuddling up on the couch with Netflix! We also enjoy taking adventures together, and since we just moved to Virginia from Texas, we have lots of things to explore here!

Word for Relationship

Trust. We will often tease each other, but at the end of the day, we each know that there is nothing we wouldn’t do for each other.

Goals

I hope that our marriage will stay strong through my time in service in the Air Force, that we will continue to “date” each other throughout the years, and that through it all we will stay friends.
