Neon District Engagement Shoot

How you two meet?

David and I met in Earth Science class in high school, but we only had one conversation that year. David was adorably shy, and I was quite a talker…we had assigned seats in that class, but for a few days, while presentations were going on, we had random seats. On the day that I sat next to david, I was nervous and had no idea what to say to him since he was stupid cute, but luckily the shy boy had more courage than I did. He might have said hi, and introduced himself, but all I remember is him asking me what my family is like. It was such a weird question from a 15 year old boy, but I loved it. That showed me how much family matters to him.

When did you know he was the one?

There was no defining moment of when I realized he was the one. I know it’s so tacky, but just Junior year of college came around and we were starting to talk about our careers and our future, I realized that I couldn’t remember the last time I pictured my life without him.

What was the proposal like?

Before David and I started dating, we went on a few runs together on the trail by our high school. I was on the cross country team all 4 years, and he had just joined but we ran right around the same paste, so we started running together often. Fast forward 4 and a half years, when David was visiting Chesapeake in between moving from Charleston and moving to Pensacola, he asked me to go for a run with him. It was February this year and it was snowing, but I conceded because I always liked running with him. About half a mile into the run, David note down to tie her shoe and I continued running because I didn’t want to get a cramp from stopping. While I was zigzagging passed him he asked me to stop, and after a little bit of negotiating I did finally stop in front of him while he was still on his knee. It should have been apparent to me because, at the time I was constantly thinking about him proposing. Nope. Still had no clue even when he was on one knee right in front of me. It wasn’t until his third sentence into his proposal speech but I realize this wasn’t a joke, it was actually happening!! Of course I answered yes, and kissed him right away. It was adorable. He tried convincing me to keep running, but I’m pretty sure I would have passed out if my heart raced any faster. We walked back to his house to a surprise engagement party with our families.

What are some of your favorite things to do together?

Quote The Office, go to theme parks, go out to dinner and bars, sing in the car, and listen to audiobooks.

If you had to pick a word for your relationship, what would it be?

(LOVE THIS QUESTION!) I would say our relationship is effervescent, it’s very fun, full of surprises and just wonderful. We are happy people who just have a blast doing anything together.

What are three dreams/goals for your marriage?

3 dreams/goals: David and I would really like to travel more. We’re going to move around a lot due to his military job, but we definitely want to start taking more vacations together, even if it’s just for the weekend. We dream of having three or four children and we look very forward to that time in our life, but our short term goal is to at least get a dog soon. 🙂 Lastly, our goals are to regularly surprise each other; not like gift surprises, more like just happy surprises to keep each other on our toes. I’ve heard how easy it is to just get a routine in your relationship, and become comfortable, which can be a good thing…but we also want to keep the whimsical nature of our relationship alive.
