When you first meet Jenise and Hans, you can’t help but love them. They are two of the kindest people, and always have a smile to give or a joke to share. They are definitely my kind of people! Their engagement photos were no different, there were plenty of laughs to go around. In addition to being a windy Virginia Beach engagement session, Jenise and Hans also suffered through a brutally cold session. Did they complain at all? Not a bit! They were such good sports and we were able to get some pretty amazing images!

Guys, we are SO excited to photograph for your wedding at Norfolk Botanical Garden this year – it’s going to be a blast!

Windy Virginia Beach Engagement Session

How Did You Two Meet?

It was the 3rd day of Spring, in Williamsburg, Virginia aka I’d recently graduated from W&M – it was last call when I walked into a bar. My friends and I were sitting at the bar when Hans & I first locked eyes – he approached where we were sitting pretending to refill his drink. After we caught each other’s glance again, he politely asked one of my friends could he buy me a drink. He spent the last hour with us and afterwards he took me on our first date to IHOP

When Did You Know He Was the ONE?

About a week before we met – I’d been on another failed date when I called my Mom to talk about it. I asked her how she reallyknew that my Dad was the one for her. She said something like “I can’t explain how, I just knew, I felt it” to which I replied “well that’s great because I’m never gonna know”
That day after Hans & I met – when we spent the entire day just talking, sharing our interests and life stories – I just knew, I felt it. And it’s a feeling that’s only grown stronger over time. So thanks Ma, you were right lol.

What Was The Proposal Like?

It was the 3rd day of Autumn, in Savannah, Georgia aka THE DREAMIEST. I’ve always wanted to visit Savannah for the art, the history, and the old magic. Hans decided for his birthday – this is where he wanted to vacation. It was the most magical trip starting with the suite he booked us at The Bohemian Hotel [this is for sure top 3 favorite places I’ve stayed while traveling]. That morning he took me to The Paris Market for breakfast macarons and tea –followed by spending the rest of the day wandering the streets, visiting every museum we could find, honey tasting [just like wine but with honey!], seafood sampling, playing in parks, taking too many pictures, and dancing wherever there was music. We even witnessed a wedding in one of the squares! The trip felt surreal at times. Just before dinner Hans surprised me with a horse-drawn carriage tour of the city that ended with him getting down on one knee in Orleans Square to ask me to be his wife. At dinner he had a bouquet waiting and after we were seated, he leaned into me and asked “did I give you the Disney Princess experience?”

Favorite Things to do Together?

Traveling especially Road Trips, Exploring, Camping, Watching Movies & Obscure TV Shows, READING – so much reading, Everything Food Related, Learning & Sharing – besides sense of humor, this is one of the things we clicked most on when we met; not a day has gone by where we haven’t shared or discussed something new with one another. We are both curious by nature and avid researchers who pretty much devour any subject of true interest.
Current favored subjects: Hans – History & Philosophy, Jenise – Astronomy & Astrology
