Modesty aside, I really do consider myself one of the best here in Hampton Roads.

Not only because I’ve been running my tiny empire since 2009, but I still treat every session as if it’s the best one ever!!!

Whether it’s a big family session, intimate wedding elopement, or (like today’s blog) a romantic beach proposal.

When Dhaval and Pooja first walked up and we met each other, you could tell they were both nervous.

Pooja, because she said she was adamant about not being photogenic (which we all learned was not true at all!), and Dhaval because he was super nervous about popping the question to his girlfriend.

They confided that they had a few drinks prior to the session, and were feeling a little more relaxed.

I am all about some liquid courage!

When we were actually out on the beach, we had a great time taking pictures together.

But it eventually dawned on me that Dhaval and I had not come up with a signal for when he wanted to get down on one knee and propose.

I was trying to read the signals from Dhaval, and not make it seem super obvious to Pooja what was going on… not an easy feat!

Finally we all got on the same page, and Dhaval dropped to one knee. It was a (shocked) but resounding YES from Pooja – she said it was the best surprise ever!

Some romantic snuggly photos on the beach were the best way to end this epic surprise proposal!
