I’ve driven past New Kent many times, often on the way to photograph at different venues or simply to take a trip with my family. But taking pictures for Jim and Denise was the best reason to stop and explore for this Saude Creek Vineyard engagement session! The 100 acre vineyard was founded in 2008, and boasts 20 acres of grapes, as well as a gorgeous tasting room that was constructed with 160 year old wood that was reclaimed from a tobacco warehouse. It is so beautiful! There is a wrap around porch that has comfy adirondack chairs and I can’t wait to visit again to crack open a bottle of their Saude Creek red and take in the gorgeous mountain views!

Saude Creek Vineyard Engagement Session

How you two meet?

We met twice.  The first time was at a wine tasting.  A mutual friend introduced us but we didn’t get to talk much.  The second time, 6 months later, we met up through match.com.  It was a shared funny moment when we realized that we had actually met before.  Kismet.

When did you know she was the one?

Not sure yet, but no one else will have me.

What was the proposal like?

Jim said “Wanna get hitched?”, and that was what closed the deal.

What are some of your favorite things to do together?

Cooking a healthy meal (we are still working on getting Jim to like kale), visiting amusement parks, and curling up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn.

If you had to pick a word for your relationship, what would it be?

Serendipity

What are three dreams/goals for your marriage?

Travel, Grow our businesses, and grow old together.
Jim and Denise, thank you for trusting me to capture your love! It’s always a bit nerve racking to take pictures for another photographer, but I love all the laughter and fun we shared. It was absolutely my pleasure to take these pictures for y’all, and I wish you nothing but JOY in all the years you have together.
