Carly is the owner of Makeup by Vega, and we have been friends for (what seems like) ever.
We met through mutual wedding friends here in Hampton Roads, and our relationship has blossomed over the years.
So much so, that Carly is the only one who gets to work on my face!
Yup – you heard that right – I’ve basically taken on Carly as my personal makeup artist.
And y’all think I’m joking!
There was one time Carly was out of town and I hired another stylist to do my makeup for an awards event.
It was a disappointing experience, that ended with me wiping off crooked lip liner and applying my own eyeliner.
Now I know that if Carly isn’t available to get me gorgeous, then the good lord just doesn’t want me to have my makeup done that day!

Makeup Artist Branding Session
Carly Vega is the oldest of 5 girls and 2 boys, with a background that boasts Cuban, Puerto Rican & Ukrainian roots.
Life has been full of surprises, and she is married to a bearded German (whom she affectionately calls “white boy”), and is proud mama to 3 boys (2 of which are active duty Navy).
Without a makeup brush in her hand, Carly (admittedly) doesn’t feel whole.
In the very little amount of down time, she loves playing vinyl records, eating pizza and obsessing over her husbands beard.
Annabelle Ali is the youngest of four kids.
Half Cuban, half Chinese, she obsessed over her fathers master grilling techniques.
Theirs is a proud military family.
If she had to pick, Bella’s favorite hair styles are Boho, half up styles with curls.
When her fingers aren’t working magic in clients hair, she loves church, singing, reading and painting.
Makeup By Vega was established in 2008 as a side hustle – not really thinking it would be something sustainable.
Not knowing at the time that makeup would become my full time career in 2014, after leaving corporate America.
It has certainly been a roller coaster, but Carly has been living the entrepreneur game ever since.
Annabelle officially became the hairstylist for MakeupByVega in 2020, and this dynamic duo hasn’t looked back since.
Carly and Annabelle agree that they love doing styling for bridal sessions, family photos, boudoir portraits, senior projects and all sessions in between!
