This woodsy family photo shoot was absolutely beautiful – but as gorgeous as it was, this wasn’t the original plan for the Campbell family. Regardless, we still had fun together and were able to create some beautiful memories for these guys! And the fact that the weather was absolutely perfect that day, only made it all the better.

Woodsy Family Photo Shoot

Get to know a little more about this sweet family in their own words:

My daughter Katie is special needs, she is high functioning and a handful – Stephen is a balance for us since we hit heads so often! He understands and can remain rational and get through to her like no one else can!

My husband Stephen is the class clown, and yet stoic at the same time! He is a huge mixture of personality. He’s a handyman, hobby woodworker, and generally good guy.

My son Andrew is high energy, every night Stephen and Andrew get on the floor and wrestle (they both get a huge laugh out of this!). After this, every night Andrew “sneaks” out of his room, crawls under the dining table, and then army crawls his way into my room behind daddy’s back (who completely sees him and hears the giggles) so we can all “cuddle.” When daddy has duty, he sits in daddy’s bed and turns into the cuddler – “but mommy I have to sleep with you, daddy’s not here so I am going to sleep in your bed!”

Fort Monroe is where I feel our family story began. It is where Stephen came home to after his first deployment. It is the first home for my daughter Katie, and we loved the Phoebus area! One of our favorite places to go was a coffee house where we would spend every weekend at as a family. We loved to take walks along the beach and would walk to church for Sunday service.
Our family likes to “wander” and take walks through places just to see what we can see. We have probably walked over every inch of Fort Monroe as a family!

Kristina said that of all the things she will miss during this deployment, it will be Stephen’s constant support and companionship. “We have been blessed to have him around since 2009 and this will be an extremely difficult deployment. My children do not know what it is like to not have him around. Katie was two the last deployment, and Andrew had not been born. My children have nightly routines that he won’t be around for. I won’t have those moments we spend just cuddling and talking as we wait for the kids to fall asleep.”
