CelebrateI think a business milestone like this means it’s time to celebrate! I am sitting here and can hardly believe that today is the day that Fresh Look Photography turns 4!!! Officially, I got started in my photography journey in 2008, when I got hired by Lifetouch Studios and was working in one of their client studios. At that point, I had no delusions of grandeur.
If you had told me 5 years ago that I would be running a (moderately successful) photography business and teaching photography classes at Virginia MOCA, I probably would have laughed at you! Given my circumstances at the time, it would have seemed so absurd!

A Rose By Any Other Name

But Life Is Funny That Way

When Amy and Kody asked me to take pictures at their wedding, I had no way of knowing the wild and stressful and crazy journey I was getting ready to embark on!
Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of photographing for SO MANY wonderful people! Families, children, couples, weddings… and have created relationships with my clients that I treasure!
Seriously, one of the best parts of my job is having friends turn into clients 🙂

Flower Power

But it wasn’t all sparkles and sunshine

I remember when I was starting out how it was SO difficult to find clients to work with. I remember wishing I could just consistently book one client a month (yes, one a MONTH!). It has been a hard, uphill struggle to get to where I am today, but it has given me such an appreciation for all that I have!
Entering the photography scene, it was extremely difficult to gain information because people were still very guarded with their “secrets” because heaven forbid that we help the “competition”! This has really sparked a passion in me for helping others learn how to use their cameras to the best of their ability and even offering business tips (shameless plug: check out my One on One lessons!).

Red Flowers

In closing, I want to say thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU to everyone that has supported me on this journey. For those that have helped me grow, given me a shoulder to cry on, given the tough to swallow criticism, thank you.
Bu more importantly, a big, giant, squishy hug to those that have entrusted me with the most important task of capturing your families memories and allowing me into your lives and your hearts <3
