Headshot SwapA few weeks ago, I wrote a blog post (see it {HERE} ) about the fact that I wanted to be able to give back to the photography community by organizing a few photographer get togethers.
This past Saturday, a few of us braved the weather and headed out to the Regent University campus to do a headshot swap. Initially there were 14 people signed up for the event, but a few schedule conflicts and the threat of rain showers kept a lot of photographers from being able to join us.

Practice Makes PerfectThat  morning, I was joined by Shirley, Nicole L., Judy, Nicole H., and Carmen. We started the day by talking about common problems one encounters during portrait sessions and things that the gals are struggling with. After a brief time of teaching, we went right into photographing each other.

On the BridgeI started out by showing what I might do when I have a client: how to pose, why I chose a location over another, what I would say to help them relax, etc. Once I took a few example photos, then we broke off into two groups and started to round robin, photographing and interacting and learning and having fun.

After we had been shooting for about an hour, the rain came out, so we all jumped in our cars and moved the party to Starbucks (of course!) to continue to fellowship with each other.
I’m a big, Big, BIG proponent of learning from each other and will always relish the chance to spend time chatting and interacting with other photographers!
While we were chatting at Starbucks, my handsome little brother Luke happened to stop in to get some coffee, so he came and sat with us for a few minutes (and was a great sport when we all started taking pictures of him).

Strong and Silent love my brother

Ladies, thank you all SO MUCH for coming out and spending your morning with me. I had a wonderful time getting to know you all, and wish only the best for you as you continue on your photographic journey! I look forward to seeing everyone at the Bridal Beauty event on Friday night!!!
