Fall is one of my favorite times of year because there is so much to do, the weather starts getting a little cooler, and the colors of the leaves burst into magnificence before dying and floating gently to the ground. With deployment right around the corner, doing a fall anniversary session was perfect for Kim and Chris as they prepare to celebrate 7 years of being married (and not killing each other!). I asked Kim to share her and Chris’ love story, so enjoy getting to know these two lovebirds a little more!

Fall Anniversary Session

“When people ask where Chris and I met and we tell them we met in high school they automatically assume that means we are highschool sweethearts. Actually, it wasn’t that simple. He had a girlfriend and I had a boyfriend and two kids. Our friendship got complicated and we went our own ways. About 2 years after we graduated high school Chris found me on Facebook and started talking to me. Asking about my life and told me he had made a choice to get out of our hometown and join the Navy. We started hanging out, thinking nothing of the situation. Neither of us really wanted a relationship because of my situation with my 2 kids, and him leaving for boot camp. Little did we know, him leaving for boot camp was an eye opener.

We fell in love with each other through letters, he graduated boot camp and flew me up to visit him several times and also my daughter for her 4th birthday, when I saw him with her I knew he was the man I was suppose to spend the rest of my life with. Even though he wasn’t her father he looked at her as though she was his. It is now 8 years later since we started dating and we have been married for 7 years. We have been through 2 deployments, and have added two more kids to our family. We are about to go through our 3rd and longest deployment and there isn’t a day that I think about the past that we had before all of this.

We started dating when we were 19 years old, got married at 21 years old and are more in love with each other than we were 7 years ago. The way he looks at me makes and makes me feel as a wife and a mother is the way that every woman should feel. I always wondered when I was younger what I had done wrong to be dealt such a crappy hand of cards in this game we call life, but now, I look back, and I just know that because of those hurdles I had in my younger years, I am now blessed with the most loving, passionate, and exciting human that I could have ever imagined for myself.
