I am always wanting better for the photography community, both locally and as a whole. Like anything else, there are lots of things that need to be worked on, but I think that the only way we are going to raise the standard is to help each other! That’s why I like to hold free photography events each summer as a way to give back to the local photography community!
Last Year
My kids go visit their dad in the summer, so this leaves me with some extra free time on my hands. I’ve always tried to have an open door policy for photographers and people in the industry, but it wasn’t until last year when I was really able to do something about it. I hosted two events, a Headshot Swap and a Bridal Beauty mini-workshop. It was a LOT of fun!!! I loved getting the chance to bring people together and hang out with other photographers! (and being able to work with other fabulous industry peeps doesn’t hurt either 😉 )
Free Photography Events | 2014
This summer I want to do the same thing, so I’m hosting another two events: a headshot swap (because lets face it, that selfie on your website isn’t cutting it anymore!), and a lightly stylized couples workshop!
Headshot Swap
This event will take place on Monday, July 28th at 6:30pm. We will be at a location near the Virginia Beach/Chesapeake border, off of Indian River and Providence. There will be a short lecture on portraiture, and then we will break up into groups, to photograph each other, and I will make sure to photograph each attendee. I’m limiting this event to 15 photographers, so let me know if you want to attend!
Couple in Love
The exact details of this event are still being worked out, but it will take place on August 19th at the Chesapeake Arboretum. There will be a gorgeous couple in love, ready to pose for some pictures, and a super adorable setup. I don’t wanna give all the details away just yet, but since we are limiting this event to 15 people, make sure to reserve your spot soon!
