something to look forward toI’m a big fan of having something to look forward to, I feel like it helps me get through a slump and gives me something to get excited about! Right at this moment, I am sitting in the airport at LAX and after being away from home there are so many things I’m looking forward to: seeing my sweet little shrimpies and giving them lots of hugs and kisses, sleeping in my own bed (lets face it, sleeping period!), spending time with family and friends, and getting the chance to refocus my priorities to what really matters.

what really mattersI got the chance to hear many, many amazing speakers at the Adventure Always conference here in Long Beach, but there was one thing that was consistently driven home by almost every speaker: Don’t get caught up in thinking that stupid stuff matters (blog comments, “likes”, how much money you make, etc). Do the things that are really important: put work away, unplug from the digital world for a little while, take care of the people you love, and live a life that matterssomething to look forward toThere are so many amazing things I want to share from attending the conference this week, it’s hard to know where to begin. But for right now (since I’ve gotta put my laptop away to board the plane), I’ll stick to something that really hit home with me. The one big thing I want to take away from this conference was so beautifully put by Kristen Kalp, and she reminded us that “joy is a choice, now matter where you are.” It’s a powerful reminder that no matter where you are or what is going on in your life, you can choose to be joyful.

Alright, that’s it for me, time to get on a plane and fly back to VA!
