Most people think that if it rains on your wedding day, it’s a negative thing. That (apparently) means that your pictures will be ruined or that you’ll have a miserable day. I tend to disagree! Rain on the wedding day – while not ideal – definitely doesn’t mean that the pictures are completely shot… it just means that we have to get a little more creative. And when you see Larry and Lori’s romantic blue themed summer wedding, I think you’ll agree!

Romantic Blue Themed Summer Wedding

When we all arrived at the church, it had been steadily raining all day, and there didn’t appear to be any sign of the weather breaking. Since everyone was already dressed when they arrived, that means they were all huddled together under colorful umbrellas as they made the dash from cars to the church and then laughed about how silly they felt doing it. The ceremony was lovely and filled with meaningful readings and friends whom the couple knew.

I remember after the wedding, we had stepped outside and were taking pictures of just the bride and groom. The rain had lessened, but it was still coming down, and when I offered Larry and Lori an umbrella, they said that nothing could put a damper on the joy they felt at finally being able to marry the one they loved. In fact, they told me that they actually met while a hurricane was going on, so they just laughed and said that a little rain wasn’t going to hurt anything. And whether everything went exactly according to plan or not, I loved how they were able to focus on the things that really mattered and roll with whatever was happening!

Larry and Lori, I know that you’ve got some distance separating you right now (god bless the military!), but I hope that you are enjoying your new marriage and are always able to remember the joy you shared on your wedding day.
