Anyone that knows me, knows that I take pictures.

Like… a LOT of pictures.

And all of those fabulous pictures have to go somewhere. For me, they go into iPhoto and then put in a separate folder on my hard drive, and then backed up on my portable hard drive (don’t you feel better knowing that I take such good care of all my photos )
And while that means I will probably never see a repeat on my photo slideshow, it does keep everything tucked away to where I don’t think about them.

I mean, how easy is it to get the pictures from your fabulous photo shoot with Fresh Look Photography, put the pictures on your computer, and then forget about them after that?
This is not me pointing a finger and calling you out, I’m just as guilty!

One of my resolutions this year was to have more of my photos printed and hung up, and I think that everyone else should have the same goal!!!

There is a lot of superstitions associated with this day:

Fear of the number 13 is known as triskaidekaphobia, while fear of Friday the 13th is known as paraskavedekatriaphobia.

One psychotherapist, who specializes in the treatment of phobias, asserts that 21 million Americans fear Friday the 13th, according to information from About.com .

Friday has been considered an unlucky day at least since the 14th century’s The Canterbury Tales and many other professions have regarded Friday as an unlucky day to undertake journeys, begin new projects or deploy releases in production. Black Friday has been associated with stock market crashes and other disasters since the 1800s.

However, there are also lots of superstitions regarding photography. One of the oldest is that because of the way it captured the image, especially of living people, the camera was widely believed to cause death or illness or to steal the soul.

Want to avoid bad luck on Friday the 13th? There are a number of things you can do to ward off ill fate, according to superstition: Touch wood, cross your fingers, avoid black cats, don’t look at the full moon through a pane of glass, and throw salt over each shoulder.

Hopefully today doesn’t find you crossing paths with a black cat or walking under a ladder!

Spring has officially spring! We’ve made it through winter, so come celebrate with Fresh Look Photography and capture those precious spring memories with a mini photo shoot! Here’s your chance to get the kids photographed in a quick and fun studio session.  With Easter, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day coming up quickly, the images we capture will make the perfect gift.

From April 4-7, you can schedule your special spring themed mini session. It includes a 20 minute studio session, 8-10 digital images, and 2 – 5×7 prints.

Clients can reserve their date and time by paying the $40 session fee.

So I’ve been a little neglectful in posting on my blog, and I’d love to say that it’s because I’ve been working my bum off… and it is, sort of. I’ve been taking a lot of pictures, but these pictures have been for me (I’m sorry to my friends on Facebook for the photo bombs lately!).

I’m sure that most photographers will tell you that it’s easy to get into a rut, and only pick up your camera when a client is coming. I am very guilty of that! This the reason that I decided to take another class at the Museum of Contemporary Art with the fabulous Jackie Poutasse!
Taking this class has really pushed me to get outside of my comfort zone and photograph things that I wouldn’t normally take pictures of.

My theme for this project is Music. I’ve always had a deep passion for music, and (after floundering for a few weeks) I’ve decided to focus on telling the story of music by photographing the details of different instruments.

Over the next few months, we will see how the project grows and takes shape. I hope that you’ll stick around and enjoy this journey with me!

Mini-sessions in 2012 are going to be a bit different, clients will now have the option to choose a CD with 8-10 images on it, or  get a print package with an 8×10, 2-5×7, 4-3.5×5 and 10 seasonal greeting cards. If you do not want to get cards, you may substitute with a different size print sheet. Extra prints can be purchased as well at a discount rate.

I’m only taking on a limited number of Valentines studio sessions, so call me to reserve your date and time. I’m flexible and can work with your schedule! Your photos will be done within a week, just in time for you to have them to give to family and friends.
